Our Students: Growing as #GenerationRestoration
These photos capture our students joining forces with each other, all learning to be responsible caretakers of our planet! Their commitment aligns perfectly with the spirit of World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5th.
This year’s theme, “Our Land, Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration,” emphasizes the importance of restoring damaged land, fighting desertification (drying out of land), and building resilience against droughts (long periods without rain).
Did you know? Up to 40% of the world’s land is already degraded, affecting over 3 billion people worldwide! Experts predict that by 2050, more than three-quarters of the world’s population could be impacted by droughts (Source: UN Environment Programme).
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself emphasized the importance of planting in a beautiful saying: “There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a charitable gift for him.”
Our young learners are taking this message to heart, understanding that human actions can damage the environment, but we also have the power to heal it.
By planting trees and learning sustainable practices, our students are taking a stand as #GenerationRestoration. They are the future, and their commitment today paves the way for a greener tomorrow!
