NAPLAN 2023 – Information for parents and carers

Asalamu Alaykum

Dear Parent/Guardian,

As you are aware, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is scheduled to take place from Wednesday 15th March 2023. This assessment is a vital tool that helps evaluate students’ educational progress across Australia.

We want to encourage you to support your child/ren in preparing for the NAPLAN assessment by reinforcing positive attitudes towards testing, providing a comfortable supportive environment for learning during the NAPLAN week and making sure your child attends school on the day of the test.

We suggest that your child should have a good night’s sleep before the test and have a healthy breakfast on the morning of the assessment. This will help them feel energized, alert, and ready to perform at their best. Please ensure that your child is punctual to school every day so that they can commence the day with an assembly/morning duahs and encouragement from their teacher.

We also want to remind you that attendance on the day of the test is crucial. If your child is absent, they will miss the opportunity to participate in this assessment and may miss valuable information about their progress. If your child is unwell, please inform his/her class teacher via ClassDojo or email.

We understand that tests can be stressful, but please reassure your child that NAPLAN is not the only measure of their progress. It is just one tool used to help identify areas where they may need additional support. It would be prudent to inform you that your child’s performance is part of the whole cohort so they should try their best to do well.

Our school will provide support and guidance to ensure your child is prepared and comfortable during the assessment process. We encourage you to talk to your child’s teacher if you have any concerns or questions about NAPLAN.

Please read through the attached NAPLAN information. Thank you for your continued support in your child’s education.

May Allah (SWT) grant all our students’ success in their upcoming NAPLAN, Ameen.

Yours Sincerely,

Dr Ahdielah Edries
